Club Naples RV Resort

We stayed at Club Naples RV Resort from November 3-7, site J-02. This is a Good Sams Park, $66.60 a night. This is the most expensive fee we have paid, but you get a lot for your money.  There are cement pads pull thru or back in spaces with 30/50 amp full hook ups with nicely landscaped surroundings & picnic table. Maximum length is 45 ft. They offer transient stays as well as long term extended stays. Amenities include pool & hot tub, outdoor rec area for tennis, horseshoes, bocce ball, pentanque, pickle ball & shuffleboard, as well as a community center with game room, exercise room, card room, library, puzzle room, TV room, piano and soda machine. Other amenities included are dog walk, mail, wifi, cable, propane, dump station, recycling, dumpsters, laundry, showers & restrooms.  The washers cost $1.50 each or $1.75 for super wash & dryers cost $1.50 each for 50 minutes. The laundry room is divided into two separate areas with 5 washers & 5 dryers on each side. There are 2 showers with a changing area attached and a locking door. There are 4 toilets with their own light switch & fan because the main restroom light is on a timed motion sensor. Wifi is good enough to stream show on Hulu.

They also have 1 bedroom cottages for rent that sleep 2-4 people. They also have 1 bedroom 1 bath vacation rentals.

On our first night we went to the beach gathered sea shells and watched the sunset.

I was able to find work in the area on Monday morning with the app.

For lunch we went to one of the many Cuban places in the area.  Chad chose Floridita Cuban Bakery & Restaurant based on Yelp reviews.  We shared a plate of rice & beans, sweet plantains & pork fricase.  We also had Senorita for dessert. Everything was very good. We haven’t eaten a lot of Cuban food and were a bit lost when it came to ordering.  A gentleman that was sitting down eating lunch with a friend told us what things were so that we could figure out what to order.

For dinner we went to Black Eyed Pig BBQ this was another recommendation from Yelp.  There are a lot of highly rated places to eat in Naples, we were shopping earlier and looked for places in the area.  We had the 4 meat platter with smoked fried chicken wings, ribs, brisket & pulled pork which came with 2 sides, we choice baked beans & collard greens, a choice of garlic toast or jalapeno corn muffin (we chose both & paid extra). We should have chosen the black eyed peas.  We shared a piece of key lime pie. It was all amazing except for the brisket which was a bit dry and not very flavorful. I do not like to put BBQ sauce on my meat, I feel it should taste good to start with and then even better with sauce. We had enough for leftovers and I will say that the brisket tasted better reheated. Chad really liked their sweet barbecue sauce.

Wednesday, November 6th was my 49th birthday.  Chad took the day off work and we went thrift shopping.  The thrift stores in Naples are much different than thrift stores we are used to except for Goodwill, it is smaller in size, but what we are used to otherwise.  The thrift stores are more like boutiques, prices are much higher because the clothes are name brand so it is more like shopping at TJ Maxx or Ross. Chad was able to find some books.  I found a top and some nice dress shoes at Plato’s Closet which is a chain that I have been to before in Boise, ID.

We went to lunch at Neapolitan Gourmet where I had half a meatball sub with homemade meatballs that are made on site.  It was so much food that I was unable to eat it all. Chad had an Italian sub and it was chock full of meat freshly sliced and the bread is made on site as well.  Chad tried a Espresso Premium Coffee soda, said it was good but prefers his coffee without carbonation.

When Chad was Collier County Mosquito Control District, he mentioned that we would be sightseeing the next day and one of the women that worked there used to work for the Chamber of Commerce so had several recommendations. One of which was a wonderful ice cream shop, Royal Scoop.  I had an ice cream flavor that I had never seen before- Georgia Pecan Sweet Potato Swirl, creamy sweet potato ice cream with a marshmallow swirl & roasted pecans. I asked for one scoop in a sugar cone and there scoop size is more like 2. Chad had 2 scoops in a waffle cone, pistachio and blueberry cobbler.  Total cost for both was $12.65 which is a lot in my opinion but the ice cream was very yummy plus it was very hot out.

Another recommendation we were given was to go to the Naples Botanical Garden. Cost would have normally been $19.50 per person but we were there an hour before closing and so we were allowed in for no cost. My favorite part was all the beautiful orchids.

We went to the again down to the Gulf Shore to watch the sunset before going to dinner.  Another lovely walk along the beach. There is public street parking nearby and the cost is $2.50 per hour.

For dinner we went to Celebration Park which is an area with a variety of food trucks as well as a bar.  Chad went to Dilly’s Seafood and had a seafood stuff avocado, seafood was shrimp & fish which he felt was overpriced at $13.91, for what he received.  I went to Gyros2Go and got a Greek salad with lamb, cost was $17.55, enough for both Chad & I.  I was saving room for dessert after dinner but it still would have been too much for me to eat by myself in one sitting.

For dessert it was also recommended that we try Mon”Key” Buntz from the Monkey Bread Factory which is located in Tin City.  We tried the coconut one with icing and is was alright but nothing amazing.  We won’t be drooling in our sleep dreaming about it like we do the deep fried cheesecake we had in Fruita, Utah.  Honestly I would have had more smoked fried chicken wings from Black Eyed Pig BBQ for dessert. 🙂

It was a wonderful birthday, I received many Facebook wishes, texts and even a couple phone calls but best of all was spending the day with my husband.
